How does the hour of the day impact the electricity price?


In Spain, the price of energy varies depending on the time of day, a system known as time-of-use pricing. During weekdays, there are three periods: Peak, Normal, and Off-Peak. On weekends, all hours are considered Off-Peak. Take advantage of time-of-use pricing by adjusting your consumption habits to consume during the cheapest hours. Remember: Peak hours are the most expensive, while Off-Peak hours offer the best energy prices. Maximize your savings by focusing your consumption during Off-Peak hours, the cheapest time of day.

Legal information

The energy and power prices do not include the 21% VAT (or 0% IGIC in the Canary Islands). If your power is higher than 10 kW and it is not your main residence, the IGIC will be 3% in the Canary Islands.

  • Energy consumed considering indicative average prices according to the market price of the last six months:

    Peak (P1): 0.244 €/kWh (incl. VAT),
    Flat (P2): 0.159 €/kWh (incl. VAT), and
    Valley (P3): 0.127 €/kWh (incl. VAT).


    Management cost of 0.0242 €/kWh (incl. VAT).

 

  • Power:
    Peak (P1): 0.089 €/kW/day (incl. VAT) and
    Off-peak (P2): 0.0194 €/kW/day (incl. VAT).

 


The energy and power prices do not include the 21% VAT (or 0% IGIC in the Canary Islands). If your power is higher than 15 kW and it is not your main residence, the IGIC will be 3% in the Canary Islands.

In addition, the following regulated costs will be included in your electricity bill:

 

  • Electricity tax: 5.113% (or the minimum amount of 1 €/MWh, or as applicable by law).

  • Contribution to the social bonus: A regulated cost of 0.01274243 €/day will be added. The financing of the social bonus is not included in the price.
